Originally from Iceland, Hrefna Bragadottir now lives in Bournemouth and works as a freelance children's book author/ illustrator. 

Her debut picture book Baxter's Book, has been published in the UK, Iceland, Holland, China, Russia, South Korea, South America, New Zealand and Australia, and was longlisted for The Klaus Flugge Prize 2017 and The North Somerset teachers Book award 2017. Her second picturebook, Harvey the Hero came out in April 2017 and has been published in the UK, South Korea, New Zealand and Australia.

Hrefna holds a Bachelors degree in 2D animation from The Arts University Bournemouth and a Masters degree in Children's Book Illustration from Cambridge School of Art.

She has worked as an animator on a number of children's TV series, including Mama Mirabelle's Home movies, Humf, The Itch of the Golden Nit (short film), Abney and Teal, Poppycat and Sarah & Duck.

Hrefna is currently a visiting tutor at The Arts University Bournemouth, where she teaches the basic principles of animation and drawing to first year Bachelors degree students.
